Petite Studio NYC: slow petite women's fashion

Petite clothing. Companies a lot of the times just throw this label on stuff even though it is just smaller sizes. The average sized human will always get a wide selection of clothes to chose from, but petite and plus size women get few options. There have been steps made to have more options for the plus size women, but it always seems like the petite women are forgotten about. Petite women will find a piece of clothing and buy it, but when it arrives the item is too long or too loose. Out of about ten pieces of clothing a petite women may be able to find one or two that actually fit and they feel comfortable wearing. Having to always get things shortened or altered in anyway is always a hassle and sometimes you just do not have time for that. No one has the time or money to have almost every piece of clothing they buy have to be altered. I think that it goes even deeper than this. It also is about petite women being able to feel confident and comfortable in their clothes. No one wants clothes that they feel awkward in just because it doesn’t fit exactly right. That is why I believe that petite women should get more attention when it comes to fashion, and I found some companies that believe in this as well.

Petite Studio is a clothing company that focuses in on designing a fit that is made for petite women. They consider themselves a slow fashion company because they take their time by using two to three rounds of samples with real petite women to test the fit of the items. Fast fashion companies lead to many issues. They are not good for the environment or for the people working and also causes the fit and sizing of items to be quite inconsistent. Petite Studio puts a lot of time and effort into their products to ensure a long life for each of the clothing items. They spend about 20 hours on each item because they pay attention to every detail. Paying attention to the small details and steering away from cheap fabrics all help to stop the quick wear that is seen in fast fashion clothing.

Petite Studio is based in New York City, but their factory is located in Jiangshan, China which is the founder's hometown. They have made many steps to try to create a better work environment for their workers. The employees at their factory get health insurance, hour-long lunch breaks, 30-minute midday naps, and they have 40-hour work weeks. Most employees have worked for Petite Studio in their factory for over ten years and this has given them stability. They also aim to reduce the waste that they create as a company. They make their products in small batches to ensure they do not have a large excess of products, and they repurpose left over material by using it to make scarves and scrunchies.

Their products range from about fifty dollars to one hundred sixty dollars excluding the accessories. The items are priced higher than what you would see at other companies that are considered fast fashion due to the time and effort they put into their products compared to the other companies. They sell dresses, tops, bottoms, outerwear, and accessories.

This is just a few of the many cute items that Petite Studio offers. Some of items may be pricey for some people, but you see the companies reasoning for it when comparing the idea of slow fashion and fast fashion. In fast fashion, about four hours is spent on the clothing compared to the twenty hours that Petite Studio spends. I would totally recommend you to check out Petite Studio because they have some cute clothes and accessories. They also have made steps to improve their company by watching their waste and improving conditions for their employees. Most importantly, they are attempting to make petite women feel more confident in their clothing by tailoring clothing specifically for them.
