Chips on a diet? Sprouted grain tortilla chips

The world is in a crazy time. We are having to do things and experience things that we have never had to do before. This includes having to stay in our homes. This was difficult in many different ways. We weren't able to see friends and family, and we were left to do a lot of snacking. A lot of people during this rough time tried to exercise and eat healthier. That is exactly what my family tried to do.

Before the shut down, my parents were trying a new diet. The diet has three phases. Phase 1 is Monday and Tuesday. Phase 2 is Wednesday and Thursday, and phase 3 is Friday through Sunday. This cycle repeats for 4 weeks or for however long you want it to. Each phase entails different rules on what you can or cannot eat. Each day, you get to eat 2 snacks and 3 meals. You have set serving sizes, and you have a set amount of water that you have to drink each day based on your body weight.

Since my parents completed the diet, my entire family decided to try it out. My parents did the diet strictly for four weeks, so we were going to try to do the same for at least one week.

This diet was not bad, but there were a lot of rules on what you could eat and how much you could eat. The stuff that we could eat one day was different from what we could eat on the next. These rules were changing and very hard to follow because we missed what we ate on our regular diet.

My brother was really missing the food that he use to eat when he was off the diet, so he was always trying to find a way to eat something that was healthy but on his regular diet. The thing that he wanted was chips because phase 3 allows guacamole. He wanted to try to think of a way to eat his chips but not break the diet.

This post is all about a healthy replacement that you can use for your diets.

Sprouted Grain Tortilla Chips

Makes 6 chips

 Ingredients:

1 sprouted grain tortilla

olive oil (just to coat tortilla)

salt (to sprinkle)

Recipe:

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Cut your sprouted grain tortilla in sixths.

3. Pour some olive oil in a bowl.

4. With a brush, coat tortillas with oil (both sides).

5. Sprinkle a pinch of salt on tortillas (both sides).

6. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

7. Place tortillas on the baking sheet,

8. Bake the chips for 8 minutes or until golden brown.

9. Let cool and enjoy!

This recipe will obviously not going to work on every diet because each diet has it own set of rules on what you can eat, but this recipe is still a great healthy option. You can even try these if you are not on a diet because the chips taste great and are healthy.

Let me know if you guys try this recipe out, and comment what you thought. Should I do an IGTV making these chips? Let me know all your thoughts down below. Maybe on a little more unhealthy note, I have a new IGTV up where I make mini pies. Check it out!! Do not forget to follow my blog, instram and twitter.
